The festival
If you’re hungry and happen to be in Athens during the month of May, the Athens Street Food Festival is a must-see, or rather, a must-taste. A place where countless cuisines and people from all over the world come together to share that one special thing all of us love: food!
During the entire month of May, the old railway station in district Gazi is transformed into a hall full of stands where you can go and try foods from all over the globe. Similar to Dutch locations like the Foodhallen in Amsterdam, this is where traditional cuisines undergo a metamorphosis and transform into something new and hip, while retaining that which made these dishes so good in the first place.
Renowned chefs from all over Greece and the world come over to present their new inventions, and to top the day off, in the evening you can even enjoy the DJ to really connect to the “street” in “street food”. Tickets are €3,- each, and on the website you can check from which time you’re able to enter the venue.
So, take a break from walking through the ancient sites of this beautiful city and take a load off while sampling food from all over our well-connected world, and visit the Athens Street Food Festival!
