The best way to discover the culinary side of Poros
An hour and a half by boat from Athens, in the Saronic Gulf, lies the island of Poros. The two smaller islands, Sferia and Kalavria, make up Poros paradise, home to Dutch Rik and his Greek wife Katerina. Katerina herself was born and raised on Poros and knows the island like the back of her hand. Together they run a hotel, bistro and glamping. On top of that, they organize various activities on and around the island to suit all kinds of desires.
Katerina’s favorite thing to do is cooking typical Greek meals. What she loves even more is sharing this love with other people. For this reason, Katerina started organizing cooking courses in her beautiful kitchen. Something for you? Then this day trip to Poros is the perfect excursion!

What will your day look like?
At 9am, the Flying Dolphin departs from port Piraeus toward Poros. Here you will arrive at a quarter past 10. At the port of Poros you will be met by Katerina. She will take you into town for a walk. You will also visit the market to do some shopping for the workshop, whereafter she will accompany you to the bistro where the cooking workshop will take place. Katerina specializes in both traditional and modern Greek cuisine. She has almost 10 years of experience teaching cooking classes. Her daughter Dora has been helping out all these years and now also knows all the tricks.
During the workshop you will learn all about Greek cuisine and traditional Greek dishes. In an informal setting you will get to know how to prepare these delicious dishes yourself. Of course, afterwards you can enjoy your homemade dishes during lunch in the bistro. After lunch there will be time to enjoy the beautiful island for a while. Don’t forget to bring your swimwear for a refreshing swim afterwards. At 5 p.m. the boat leaves again for Piraeus.
